Environmental Responsibility
Environmental reporting – accounting for our success
Our approach to reporting flows from our values and our corporate commitment to transparency. We report on the performance of our sites through relevant indicators or metrics, which measure or evaluate performance according to globally accepted principals (such as the GRI). Each of our sites are unique in terms of cultural and environmental context – yet it is important to standardize the aspects we report on, both internally within our management groupings, to our board and to external stakeholders where possible.
Environmental policy
Our environment and sustainable development policy guides our strategy and our actions with respect to environmental responsibility. Through ongoing monitoring, we are able to assess and report on environmental targets and objectives. Applying this analysis, we work collectively to develop or optimize programs that enable us to continuously improve our results, and minimize our environmental impact.
Our model – representing best practice
Much has been written about the mining industry’s approach to environmental management, how it should address the critical interface it so often has with the biophysical and social environment it operates within. Dundee believes that our approach to environmental management, illustrated in the diagram below, is a highly effective amalgam of global best practice and legal prerogatives & pragmatic, on the ground local knowledge and innovation.
